Ellicott City Volunteer Firemen's Association is the only volunteer fire company to operate two fire stations in Howard County. We provide service to the citizens of the Second District as the first responders in an emergency. Additionally, both stations respond as well to all parts of the county to include parts of Elkridge, Columbia and West Friendship as support units to Box Alarms and other major incidents.
The volunteer fire company receives financial funding in two ways. First, we work hard to develop an Annual Budget to provide the basic necessities such as Medical Supplies, Fuel for the Apparatus, and $$ for the BGE Bill. Second, we run an Annual Fund Drive in September. The Annual Fund Drive is done through a mailing to the residents of the area we serve. We do not make phone solicitation calls. We do not go door to door requesting money. Instead, we look for the generosity of the citizens we serve who send in a tax deductible contribution to the Ellicott City Volunteer Firemen's Association. Those generous donations allow us to purchase Apparatus and Equipment not funded by the Annual Budget. In the Recent past, those donations enabled ECVFD to buy the Heavy Rescue Squad # 2 (which we are still paying for) and life saving equipment like the "Holmatro Jaws of Life". 100% of the Tax Deductible Contributions go to provide for Apparatus and Equipment.
We appreciate the financial support our citizens have provided in the past. As always, we ask for your continued help so we can provide the most advanced and efficient emergency service to you.
