*** Today marks the 135th anniversary of the Ellicott City Volunteer Fire Department ***

On July 10th, 1888 the Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 was formed by a group of concerned citizens who recognized the need for an organized firefighting force in Ellicott City. Over the next 135 years the organization would go through several name changes but continuously provided service to the citizens of Ellicott City and the surrounding community.

Shown below is the official record of the organization from inception in 1888 to 1903. Throughout this anniversary year and to celebrate 135 years of service to our community we will be sharing parts our history.
